January 10: The Parable of the Good Samaritan

Last month we spent time looking at the Aramaic Jesus. We looked at the culture, customs and language of Jesus. This Reasoning is the Parable of the Good Samaritan with the perspective of the culture and time of Jesus. It is quite possible that the message Jesus may have been communicating was about breaking down the social structure that the religious traditions had created. This Reasoning is timely not only with the political and religious issues of our time, but comes right before Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.

Have you ever wondered what Jesus really wanted to convey to us? Really, what would be the most important thing to understand? Would it be about religion? Would it be about heaven and hell? Would it be dogma and doctrine? Would it be about all the things Christians squabble about?
Looking at some of the consistent teachings of Jesus through the language he spoke can give us insight to these questions.
